Which EV charger should I get?
We install all the major brands — Hypervolt, Zappi, Ohme, Easee and Wallbox — and recommend the right one for your car, your parking and how you like to charge, rather than pushing one make. Tethered (cable built in) is the most convenient day to day; untethered is tidier and a little more futureproof.
Can I get a grant towards it?
Grants are still available for renters and flat owner-occupiers (the EV chargepoint grant), and for workplaces and landlords through the OZEV schemes. We install to the standard those grants require and will point you to exactly what you're eligible for.
How much does it cost to install?
A standard home charger install is a fixed price we confirm up front — usually after a couple of quick questions or a photo of your fuse board and parking. A longer cable run, a consumer-unit upgrade or a three-phase supply can affect it, but you always get the full price before we start. No surprises.
How long does it take?
Most home installs are done in a few hours in a single visit. We agree a date that suits you and leave everything tested, certified and charging before we go.
Can it charge from my solar panels?
Yes — chargers like the Zappi can top your car up from surplus solar, so you run on free energy where possible. We can integrate the charger with new or existing solar and battery systems.
Are you qualified and accredited?
Yes — Sam Ward Electrical is fully qualified, certified and insured, holding MCS, NAPIT, TrustMark, RECC and CPA accreditations. All work is carried out to the latest wiring regulations.
